DAY 24: Today we lift up the Pacific Island countries of American Samoa, Australia, Guam, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Northern Mariana Islands; Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands

You are the God of Righteous Wrath….

Lord Jesus, I wait expectantly for the day that heaven will open and you will come “to punish the world for its evil, and the wicked for their iniquity. [You] will put an end to the pride of the arrogant, and lay low the insolence of tyrants….[You] will make the heavens tremble, and the earth will be shaken out of its place, at the wrath of the LORD of hosts” (Isaiah 13:11-13).

Lord, reveal to me any form of pride, lack of love, unforgiveness, or bitterness….

Please show me any unholy practices or areas of disobedience to you…..

“Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love…blot out my transgressions…and cleanse me from my sin” (Psalm 51)….

Thank you Lord for forgiving and forgetting my sins….

Thank you for those things that you have already done in my life (even those things that don’t feel good)…

Thank you for the things that I know you will do….

Write down a few of the people, events or things that you are thanking Him for today:

(a) Pray for the world: Pacific Islands: American Samoa, Australia, Guam, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Northern Mariana Islands; Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands

Father, guide and direct the peoples of these Pacific island nations. For those closely associated with our nation (Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, Micronesia, Marshall Islands, American Samoa), I pray for their overwhelmingly Christian populations to be spiritually strengthened and lifted from nominalism and materialism to a vibrant faith. May the people of the Marshall Islands who still suffer from the effects of US nuclear bomb testing find hope and healing and a reestablishment of their way of life.

Strengthen as well the faith of the Christians on the Solomon Islands and in Papua New Guinea. Prevent the government of Papua New Guinea from slipping into a failed state; may those who identify themselves as Christians live into their faith and overcome the systemic corruption, significant poverty and economic stratification, and extraordinary ethnic diversity that has led to constant tribal and revenge violence.

Lord Jesus, I praise you for the creativity and faithfulness of Australian Christians and their willingness to address the challenges of an increasingly secular society. As Australia becomes increasingly pluralist and secular, continue to use your church to challenge and transform culture and individuals. Let your church look inward as well – while 69% of Australians claim to be Christians, only 10% regularly attend church. Help the Australian church become inwardly strong, and outwardly focused.

Continue the work of reconciliation and repentance of the European-Australians with their Aboriginal counterparts. Thank you for the spread of the gospel to the Aboriginal people; may they see that gospel lived out in the actions of their white neighbors from this time forward.

(b) Write down the names of people who you are praying for today (especially the unchurched):

(c) Pray for your personal needs:

“Give ear to my words, O Lord; give heed to my sighing.  Listen to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to you I pray.  O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I plead my case to you, and watch.” (Psalm 5)….

“For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever…Amen”
